Wrecked or stalled in Knoxville?

Floyd's Wrecker Service is a towing company on Hawthorne Avenue. Call, say where the vehicle is, and we will tell you what happens next.

(865) 577-8212 If anyone is hurt or the car is in a live lane, call 911 first.

What to tell us on the phone

You have probably never had to order a tow before. Most people have not. These are the things the person answering will need from you.

  • Where the vehicle is. Road name and direction of travel. On the interstate, the last exit number or mile marker you passed.
  • What it is. Make, model and colour. Say so if it is a pickup, a van, or carrying a load.
  • What state it is in. Does it roll? Does it steer? Is it on its wheels, off the road, or against something?
  • Where it needs to go. A repair shop, your home, or somewhere you have not decided yet.
  • Who has the keys. And a number we can reach you on if your phone is about to die.

Traffic does not slow down for a stopped car. If you can get behind the guardrail safely, wait there, not in the driver's seat.

Towing is the whole business

Floyd's is a wrecker service. If a vehicle in Knoxville has to be moved and cannot move itself, that is the call we take.

After a wreck. After a breakdown. From a driveway to a shop, or from one shop to another. Describe the vehicle and we will tell you plainly whether we can move it.

Ask for the cost on the phone before the truck leaves. (865) 577-8212

A city of ramps, bridges and merges

I-40 and I-75 share the same pavement through part of Knoxville. When you call, "I'm on 40" is only half an answer. Tell us eastbound or westbound.

The Tennessee River splits the city. If you are on a bridge, say which one and which bank you were driving toward.

Picking up a towed vehicle

Call before you drive over. Ask whether the vehicle is here, what is owed, how you can pay, and when someone will be at the office to release it.

Ask exactly which documents to bring. Expect to be asked who you are and how you can show the vehicle is yours.

If you only need something out of the car, say that on the phone. It may be a shorter trip.

Shops, insurers and officers

If you are calling for a customer's car or from a scene, the same number reaches us. Give the location, the vehicle and where it is going.

Paperwork can come by fax.
